The Gilmer competition cheer team clinched first place in their season-opening competition, a remarkable achievement that highlights their dedication and hard work. Coach Lori Cantrell expressed her pride, saying, “We increased our score at this competition and are continuing to strive for advancement and perfection as we keep the chance to attend the state competition as our number one goal.”
The victory was a testament to the courage and commitment of each cheerleader. Their scores weren’t just based on technical skill, but on their ability to engage and lead the crowd, as well as their flawless execution of tumbling, jumps, and stunts—all vital elements of their routine.
Several team members reflected on the grueling preparation that led to their success, with one saying, “We spent weeks practicing—endless hours of perfecting every move. It wasn’t easy, but we knew it would pay off.” Coach Cantrell’s guidance was instrumental in getting the girls ready, with instructions to stay focused and embrace the soreness and fatigue that came with their intense training.
Their hard work and perseverance paid off with a well-earned first-place finish. Congratulations to the team for an outstanding performance and for setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead!
