Gilmer High School participated in the Science Olympiad and placed second. They took part in the 23 STEM-Related competitions. For the projects on microbes, wind power, flying, and forestry, a bronze medal was awarded. The scrambler and write it and do it received a silver medal. A gold medal was obtained for ecological and in air trajectory. Twelve schools, including GHS, advanced to the Georgia Tech state tournament out of the 30 schools that participated in the regionals.
Junior Dulce Mares was asked about her experience going to state and said “ I was kind of nervous because I knew that the material was going to be harder since it was state but I honestly was excited to go back to Georgia Tech and out of all the teams we went against it was crazy we came out in 2nd place overall! With this experience, I am super excited for next year!
